The Portland String Quartet Workshop
Saint Joseph's College, Standish, ME
July 22 - August 4, 2018
Since 1975 talented students from all over the U.S. and abroad have come to Maine for an intensive two-week session of chamber music study and performance with the Portland String Quartet. Known as "a model of experienced ensemble playing" - The New York Times, the PSQ Workshop provides a rigorous schedule of rehearsals, coaching sessions, master classes and concerts designed to communicate the art of ensemble performance to a new generation of gifted string players.
The Workshop fee of $1550 includes tuition, meals and lodging on campus, a Workshop T-Shirt and a photo. A limited number of partial scholarships may be awarded. Registration is Sunday July 22nd, 3:00 - 5:00pm.
Pre-registration is required and all applicants must include a $150 deposit made payable to "The Portland String Quartet." This deposit will be credited to tuition upon acceptance and refunded only if the application is not accepted. The balance of the Workshop fee, $1400, is due June 8, 2018.
Attending the PSQ's summer workshops for several years greatly enriched my musical career in many ways including the joy of sharing chamber music with others.
-Augusto Salazar, founder and conductor of the Seacoast Youth Symphony and Odeon Youth Orchestra, Montessori and Waldorf String teacher, private instuctor and chamber musician
