PSQS Virtual Spring Benefit: "Flourish & Bloom"

This year's benefit concert will be a virtual program designed to support the Portland String Quartet Society's new Learning Fund. Proceeds go towards educating Maine students through PSQ workshops, chamber music coaching, and "Welcome to Chamber Music" events.

Welcome to Chamber Music

Sunday, April 11th, 2021, 2:00 p.m.

Join the Portland String Quartet with guest violist Kallie Sugatski for a virtual concert on Sunday, April 11th at 2:00 p.m.! Each year the PSQ offers a deeper look inside the music, adding their unique perspective to add to your understanding as well as enjoyment of the music you hear.  This year, with a focus on Women composers, the PSQ explores the music of Fanny Mendelssohn, Dorothy Rudd Moore, and Amy Beach. Thanks once again to the generosity and assistance of Library Director Nancy E. Crowell, MLS, our Quartet had the opportunity to record a beautiful "socially distanced" performance in the stunning Scarborough Public Library.

Winter Solstice Concert

Monday, December 21st, 7:00 p.m.


The Portland String Quartet's annual Winter Solstice Concert was held online! Folks enjoyed the concert from the comfort of home as the Quartet presented Bach's "Art of the Fugue" as a free "Gift to the City".

PSQ II: Beethoven 250 Anniversary Concert

Sunday, December 6th, 7:00 p.m.


Portland String Quartet performed with guest violist Matt Consul for a virtual concert on Sunday, December 6th at 7:00 p.m.! Thanks to the generosity and assistance of Library Director Nancy E. Crowell, MLS, and Kennebunk High School audio engineering teacher Jesse Myers-Wakeman, our Quartet had the opportunity to record a special and beautiful "socially distanced" performance of Beethoven's first and last completed quartets: his Op. 18, No. 3 and Op. 135, in the stunning Scarborough Public Library. We are so grateful to them for giving of their time and energy to help us make this online concert possible!
