The Maine Festival of American Music:
Its Roots and Traditions
If rescheduled, new dates will be given below
The Sabbathday Lake Shaker Community in a close association with the Portland String Quartet has enjoyed annual concerts and shared personal events since the 1970s. Now, entering its fifteenth Festival season, their musical and educational collaboration continues as strong as ever. This Festival has become a high point in the Sabbathday Lake Shaker calendar and in the quartet's busy year-round schedule of concerts and workshops. No venue offers a more beautiful and acoustically welcoming setting for chamber music than the 1794 Meeting House. As the Portland Press Herald proclaimed: "Portland String Quartet at Shaker House Simply a Gift."
